Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli issued a statement regarding injured forward Patrice Bergeron on Sunday morning.
Patrice was discharged from the hospital Saturday night and will be flying home with the team this morning Chiarelli said in a team statement.
Bergeron injuryCan Bruins win without him
The Bruins are being quiet when it comes to the injury and like every NHL team being very vague when it comes to talking about it. During his off day press conference on Sunday coach Claude Julien would only say that Bergeron is day to day with what is being called a body injury.
Not even an upper or lower distinction there. Just simply a body injury. That doesn't really narrow it down but that's probably the way the Bruins want it.
There was a report from Sportsnet shortly after Saturday's game that it could have been a spleen injury but TSN's Bob McKenzie reported he has heard nobody has guessed the correct body part when it comes to Bergeron's injury.
Such is life in the NHL playoffs when it comes to injuries. Secrecy and deception are everything.
Bergeron was injured early in the Bruins' 3 1 loss on Saturday night in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final against Chicago and did not return to the game. His status for Game 6 on Monday night is unknown.
