The air show was suspended for the day and expressions of sympathy have poured in to the performer's Facebook page all day.
Wicker performed at last year's Cleveland National Air Show. The Plain Dealer interviewed the Virginia native to produce this graphic which explored the great pains the wingwalker took to ensure that her act while thrilling to watch took no chances when it came to safety.
Wicker was engaged to fellow team member and pilot Rock Skowbo who was not involved in the crash and the couple had been planning a dramatic airborne wedding ceremony for 2014. A promotional video for her act showing the aircraft that crashed as well as Wicker's signature moves can be seen here.
