Men arrested in Publix pallet theft

Two Miami men were arrested Thursday after Osceola deputies say they loaded pallets full of crushed cardboard into a box truck and stole them from Publix.

Rayniel Gutierrez Vera 27 and Jorge Perez Borrego 28 were arrested on charges of burglary possession of burglary tools grand theft loitering or prowling and resisting arrest.

Gutierrez Vera was additionally charged with operating a commercial vehicle without a license and failure to obey an order to stop.

Perez Borrego also was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer.

A witness saw the men loading the pallets behind the Publix at 2338 E. U.S. Highway 192 near Kissimmee about 12 30 a.m. deputies said.

Deputies stopped the truck a short distance away on Partin Settlement Road and the men ran away investigators said. Both were quickly caught and arrested.

The value of the stolen cardboard and pallets was estimated at $800 the Sheriff's Office said.
